‘Tis the season to be jolly! Falala-lala-la-la. Celebrating Christmas in Japan (again), I’m pulling this photo set off my archive. This one’s from my visit to Tokyo Disneyland few weeks ago. They had a very Christmas-sy theme, but my shots got less captivating of the spirit of Christmas. But anyway, here goes my Christmas set from Mickey and friends. Carbon Market, Cebu, Part 2 – In grey

Few months back, I had a street photowalk in Carbon, Cebu with some of my colleagues. I have somehow forgot about some of the photos from that walk, so now, I’m pulling them out of my archive and posting this second set. The first part (follow the link, if you’re curious about it) was about the jolly and jovial part I got from that walk. This second part, I intended to grey out things and publish this set in black and white.

Climbing Mt. Fuji

During the summer of 2011, I engaged into another adventure; climbing Japan’s highest peek, climbing Mt. Fuji. It was fortunate of me to survive the climb, but barely. Factors that greatly affected was the unpreparedness because of too much confidence. Haha. It was tiring yet, fun and fulfilling. Of course, I can’t leave the place without photos of the place. Unfortunately, I was too much exhausted that I was not able to take photos at the peek and at the sunrise. But I hope you would still enjoy these photos.

Worldwide photowalk @ China Town, Yokohama

Once again it was this year’s Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. A lot of shooters from all over the world have participated and this year is its’ fourth year. There were also a lot of walk groups in Japan. For me, I went with my fellow photographers from the AWS Photography Club. Our photowalk was around China Town in Yokohama. Special recognition to our walk leader, Kari Baker, who organized our walk group. This was one of the photo walks that I am glad to be part of. Hope you all enjoy my photos. Scroll away..

A Walk to Kamakura Daibutsu

One of Japan’s famous historical attraction is the “Daibutsu” or the “Great Buddha” in Kamakura, Kanagawa. This bronze statue was built so many years back from the history books. Standing, or shall we say “sitting”, at 13.35 meters, this is the second tallest buddha statue in Japan.

Last summer, I went there with some of my office friends, and took some pictures from the place. Some of these were taken from places and mini-temples we pass by during the not-so-long trek.

This one’s for Steve

As we all know, the whole internet world is saddened by the passing of one of the world’s greatest innovators since the 19th century. Steve Jobs was one of the greatest visionaries as we currently know him. Wearing his trademark black turtleneck sleeves and faded blue jeans, he is off to showcase the latest in his company’s development stream of music and mobile gadgets.

I have thought of making tribute to Steve Jobs through this photo. This photo was taken few months ago, a way to mark my way to product photography. The IPhone4 was also the 5th Apple product ever owned and used, and was the sixth to the last product that Steve Jobs introduced to the consumers, before IPad2, MacBook Air upgrades, OSX Lion, and introduction of the new iOS5.

All about Bokeh

Bokeh is one of those photography techniques that I wanted to master or be familiar with. Other than admiring how the subject is arrange, it is rather desirable to admire the photo as a whole. Not just the subject, but also the background or foreground as well. Simply put, I would take the art of bokeh as the art of the blurry and the art of the unclear. It brings abstraction to the composition. I am really enjoying this technique so far that I am trying to explore with it. Here are some photos and a video I took for you to enjoy. ^^

Colorful Spring in Japan

They say Spring is the most colorful time of the year. Well, for those who get to experience all the four different seasons, yes it is. It’s like so much magnificence when those horror-looking trees grow leaves and flowers.

Flowers in the Philippines bloom pretty much whenever they want to. That’s why flowers such as the famous Santan for kids who suck their nectars out, to Bouganvilla that are never absent in spelling quizzes and jokes, and those other local plants are almost everywhere. Until I had the chance to travel to another country, I never thought of seeing the real live flowers that represent my mother’s plastic ornaments on our dining table.

After seeing all those beautiful and colorful flowers blooming in Japan’s park, I enjoyed Spring as well as taking pictures of those flowers. Too bad these flowers need to fall and give way for the next season.
